aged_sythe_test

here is the texturing so far for the neglected sythe prop. Is this still the right look? if so then i'll do the bow similarly. and then i'll drop them into the chair folder.
i've also got a specular map on the blade, so the rusty spots are matte.

I think there are too many colours in it. Stick to a colour scheme that suites Death (blue or purple). I don't think the brown/grey/green combo is working... it's just getting too muddy.

do you like the original colors that were on the sythe? and the brown is too much or should i change the green to a purple/bluish color? and make the brown more of a blackish?
also, do you like the positioning of the aged areas? or has it gotten too old looking and i should decrease the amount of aged spots? thanks so much

The easiest way to work out the colours is to place the Sythe over an image like this. And figure out what won't distract too much, but will look like it fits.

So I'd use pinks as your light tones, a hint of blue, but mostly purple. The texture denstity is probably fine if the colours are well matched. It's like the Pitch Fork, which works because it keeps the colours in one range of the spectrum. Don't add any black to it, or have too much contrast either.

Good luck.

hey Micheal?
i've made all the changes to the sythe. it (and the strap) is rigged with a controller, too. i'll post it when i get the bow going. Do you have any specifics for the bow textures? i can't find a whole image of cupid yet, so i'm unsure of his true color scheme. its sort of natural. and the chair is yellow. so should the bow be kind of a subdued pastel blue with yellowish tones?

I'd try and match the chair colours. The existing colours aren't that bad it just needs weathering and fitting into the overall colour scheme.
