Thanks, it's done in comp (after effects) using particular - really happy being able to contribute to this project :) will be looking at the beam and hopefully get it to be more vibrant.

Wow, Particular did that? I have a lot to learn! Is there a preset for smoke by any chance?

yep all Particular, pretty handy :)

there's no ready presets but i have made a smoke effect with delayed floating etc. I'll make up a separate aep file with the smoke on it's own you can use. The actual particles are image sequences of a cloud element, what really make it work is that i've reverse motion tracked Devil and have particular follow that. By doing this it reacted more convincingly to His movements. Otherwise the actual trail would always emit particles at the same speed.

Watch out for the tail effects edges. There's not much to work with at that lower edge but it can't be sold with a wobbly edge. Check out the other Devil comps to see what I've done with the tail effects.

Cool, no problem Mike - I'll look into that 'wobbling' this evening :) there's a few other things I noticed  like an 'edge' on Devils hair where the layer ends which I will be looking into.
